Empowering a woman is strengthening the society
Mission
The INEZA WOMEN INITIATIVE is a Rwandan Non-Governmental Organization dedicated to impacting the lives of women disadvantaged by social or economic circumstances. The Initiative will enable women to enhance and develop their quality of life and become architects of their future by presenting opportunities for spiritual, educational, and economic transformation. The Initiative is committed to empowering women, thereby strengthening families and transforming communities.
Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) are critical engines of economic growth and job creation, yet women contribute to economic development in various ways and are the primary caregivers in households. IWI advances women's ability to start and grow businesses and conduct trade in Rwanda. Through study tours, networking, public-private dialogues, technology and capacity building of women' associations. The initiative wishes to grow wide and strengthen a local network of women entrepreneurs.
Learn MoreThrough IWI programs, we provide women with tools and skills needed to advance in leadership and decision making roles. Our skills-building workshops, mentorship and networking opportunities offer women the support they need to be successful in decision-making process. Women's leadership platforms are one of IWI's key initiatives to support leadership development, the unique guidelines of the IWI platform of members and local partners to take charge of women's empowerment efforts in their respective countries. This local ownership ensures the sustainability and broader reach of our work.
Reproductive rights are central to human rights, especially the human rights of women. This includes the right to the highest standard and health and the right to determine the number, timing and spacing of children. They comprise the rights to safe childbearing and the rights of all individuals to protect themselves from HIV and other sexually transmitted infections and diseases caused by poor hygiene. Although there is tendency to focus on women's reproductive health, is expanding its interests in other areas such as increased attention made to early detection of breast and cervical cancer, recognition of violence against women as health problem, efforts made to address women's mental issues, attention to gender specific factors, efforts made to address problems related to poor nutrition, initiatives to reduce the incidence of tuberculosis ans malaria among women.
Women have been for so long lacking a strong voice in decision making around natural resources; they were just left in the kitchens and there we would say. IWI is trying to teach women how to protect the environment to help the societies develop the sense of responsibility needed to maintain a good balance between humans and the earth's resources. IWI philosophy is that empowering women is the single biggest force for positive change in the world today and a better integration of women into our projects helps make local natural resources use more sustainable and more equitable. Yet empowering women can be socially and culturally challenging. To increase the chances of success, IWI has developed and piloted a systematic way to better integrate women into conservation projects. IWI seeks to understand gender relations in communities, including women's role in decision making at both household and community levels, and how these relate to other differences between men and women.
